Brief introduction: It was the newspaper for the National Salvation Association and united front in Shanghai’s cultural circles during the Anti-Japanese war. The newspaper was first issued on August 24th, 1937 in Shanghai, with Guo Moruo as president and Xia Yan as editor-in-chief. Later, it was moved to Guangzhou and then Guilin for publishing. The newspaper was closed on February 28th in 1941 after the Southern Anhui Incident. After the victory of Anti-Japanese War, it was changed into Jian Guo Daily and resumed in Shanghai on October 10th, 1945 but was forced to close only two weeks later.
